Mr. Ryals
Mr. Ryals is excited to begin his third year teaching at Horizon Science Academy. One of his favorite parts of being an educator is working with high school students, helping them discover their strengths, overcome challenges, and build skills that will help them beyond the classroom.
In previous years, Mr. Ryals taught mathematics primarily, but this year he's excited to expand his teaching role. He will be teaching Geometry, ELA II, Algebra Intervention, Introduction to Art, and Transition Skills to small groups of 10th-grade students. Mr. Ryal's enjoys the variety these subjects provide and the opportunity to connect learning to students' interests and real-world experiences.
Outside of school, he is a husband and father of two boys. Their family also includes quite the collection of animals—a dog, three cats, and eight chickens! Mr. Ryals is an avid runner and enjoys training for and competing in races. When he's not teaching or running, he loves spending time with my family. Their family especially enjoys going on adventures together, geocaching, exploring new places, and making memories along the way.
Mr. Ryals believes that education doesn't end when we leave the classroom. Learning is a lifelong journey, and one of the reasons he loves teaching is that he is always learning something new himself. Mr. Ryals hopes to encourage his students to stay curious, try new things, learn from their mistakes, and recognize that growth can happen at every stage of life.
His goal is to create a classroom where students feel supported, challenged, and encouraged to become confident learners who understand that the skills they develop today can open doors for them tomorrow.
