Family Involvement Award Winner 20-21

Horizon Families,

In the 2018-2019 school year Miss Aude and Mrs. Sayers were inspired to create the Family Involvement Award in order to honor a family that goes above and beyond for their student/s and their education at HSA.

Family participation plays a tremendous role in the success of a child’s education as well as helps develop a child’s character. When parents and families participate it reminds us of the importance of supporting your child, their school, and their peers. According to Waterford.org children with engaged parents are more likely to: earn higher grades or test scores, graduate from high school and attend post-secondary education, develop self-confidence and motivation in the classroom, have better social skills and classroom behavior. They are also less likely to: have low self-esteem, need redirections in the classroom, and develop behavioral issues. These are just a few of the benefits of family involvement.

We had many families nominated to be our THIRD annual Family Involvement Award recipient and it was incredibly difficult narrowing it down to one winner. The recipient this year will be honored by having their name added to the Family Involvement Award plaque displayed in the Family Connection Center as well as their picture. In addition to receiving this award, they will receive a $100 Amazon gift card for their dedicated efforts!
