HSA Lorain’s Annual Trunk or Treat 2017 was a huge success. The event was run by staff member, Nasja Aude and supported by student volunteers and additional HSA staff members. Although the rain took the event inside, there were still over 300 participants. Not only did HSA families enjoy the regular Trunk or Treat event, they also enjoyed snacks, cider, and face painting done by the HSA Student Council members. Local firefighters surprised the participants and passed out candy, took pictures, and had their firetruck on display for kids to check out.
Four HSA families tied for 1st and 2nd place prizes for best decorations and costumes. Prizes this year were donated by Harry Buffalo, Applebees, Dominoes, Brown Bag Burger, Subway, Jimmy Johns, and Selenti’s Pizza.
Trunk or Treat raised $135 for the 8th grade Washington D.C. trip. Additionally, this year Trunk or Treat teamed up with Socktober run by Shannon Greif, 1st grade teacher. Her event raised more than 1,300 pairs of socks and other necessities to donate to Lorain’s Haven Center Homeless Shelter.
