On Wednesday, October 24th, HSA Lorain celebrated it’s Annual K-5 Trunk or Treat and it was a huge success! The event was run by a staff member, Nasja Aude and supported by student volunteers and additional HSA staff members. We had 18 families decorate cars/pass out candy and 15 staff members join in the decorating of their cars. Our local Fire Department surprised our families by passing out candy and taking photos (for a little while until they were called to save the day). There were a little over 300 student participants! Not only did HSA families enjoy the regular Trunk or Treat event, but they also enjoyed snacks, cider, and face painting run by our 8-11th grade students. This year we had about 20 middle school/high school students that volunteered their time to set up, run stations, and help clean up after the event.
Five HSA families were awarded prizes for best decorations and eight students won prizes for best costumes! Prizes this year were donated by the following local restaurants: Harry Buffalo, Applebees, Dominoes, Brown Bag Burger, Subway, Jimmy Johns, Chipotle and Selenti’s Pizza!
Trunk or Treat 2018 raised $241 allocated towards our High School Student Council and 8th Grade Washington D.C. Trip! A total of 3 huge tubs of clothes and non-perishable items for our local Haven Center Homeless Shelter were also collected by donation at the event.
