On August 28, 2018, Horizon high school students launched a rocket in a safe area in the back of the school as a way to connect their learning in the classroom to real-world application. Students have been engaged in this project over the past few days with the emphasis of helping them to understand rocket science and aerospace engineering on a deeper level. Before starting this project, students did extensive research which led to the sleek, yet simple design of the rocket. They began the process by choosing a light, but durable material to ensure the rocket could cover more distance in the air. They also discovered that they needed accommodate their design by taking wind speed into consideration during the launch. Overall, this project of rocket education helped our students apply everything they have learned in the classroom and create their vision into existence. We look forward to many more experiences in the coming weeks.
