On Friday, November 17th the Horizon Science Academy 5th grade class had a chance to visit the NASA Glenn Research Center’s Plum Brook Station. The students learned about the various research and testing capabilities that are featured at the facility. At the Space Environment Complex the students toured the chambers where space launch vehicles and spacecraft are tested to see how they will survive in the space environment. At the In Space Propulsion facility the the students learned about the importance of testing rocket propulsion systems and they had a chance to see the Morpheous rocket. The trip allowed the students to make a real world connection with the engineering design process that they learned about, and they had a blast!
