Horizon Students Use Their Hearts to Help Others

Congratulations to our HSA Lorain family for helping raise $600 for the American Heart Association by participating in Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Heart. At our kick off assembly in February, several staff members, including our very own Mr. Sum participated in a jump rope contest to motivate the students and their families to do their part.  Elementary students engaged in various jumping rope activities in class during February, while many of our middle school students played in our annual Hoops for Heart 3-on-3 basketball tournament.  Many thanks to all for a successful campaign and we hope to hit an even higher total in 2019!

By participating in this worthy event, our students earned the following benefits:

  • Kids learn the value of community service and become empowered to contribute to their community’s welfare.
  • Children join together in helping other kids with special hearts.
  • Students learn how to develop heart-healthy habits while being physically active
  • Participants learn jump rope and basketball skills they can use for the rest of their lives.

Way to go, HSA Lorain
