Every year our country celebrates National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15th – October 15th as a way to recognize the contributions Hispanic and Latin Americans have made to our country. In honor of this, our Spanish teachers Mrs. Shively and Mr. Perez planned the event to honor Hispanic culture and unite our community with a culminating celebration.

The Hispanic Celebration Dinner was well held on October 12th, 2017, and was well attended with over 200 parents, students, and community members. The dinner celebration included student presenters about Hispanic Culture, fantastic dancing performances from Esencia Boricua Cultural de Lorain, live percussion demonstrations from Mr. Alvarado and the Boys, and informational messages from two representatives from El Centro, Sara Johnson and Nelly Davila. To wrap up the evening, we had a powerful testimony from one of our parents, Mrs. Bonilla about her wonderful experiences at the school. Overall, it was a fantastic event that brought our Horizon community together to honor Hispanic Heritage.
