The theme for Horizon Science Academy’s homecoming this year was “The Nightmare Before Homecoming.” They started off the festivities with their annual Spirit Week. The students sported their favorite jerseys, super hero gear, represented their nationalities, dressed in their dream job uniforms, and got decked out for color war! They ended the week with a Pep Rally to get everyone hyped up for the dance on Saturday. This year’s Pep Rally pinned class against class in a series of events to see which grade could rack up the most points. Between knockout, a staff vs. student kickball game, relay games, and an intense dance battle, the Junior class took home the award for most points and spirit!
We started the week off by announcing this year’s Homecoming Court:
Freshman representatives: Ma’Kaila Williams and Damius Kirk
Sophomore representatives: Gina Burgos and Nathan Antus
Junior representatives: Abigail Laurenti and Aaron Brown
And last but not least our Senior Representatives:
At the dance the 2019 king and queen were announced. Congratulations to our 2019 homecoming queen, My’Jia Brown, and king, DeAndre Clayton
MyJia Brown is a senior at Horizon Science Academy. She is very active within the school, participating in Hype Squad, Student Council and has recently traveled outside of the US to sing with the Art and Language Festival. She is deeply endowed in her faith and plans to attend the University of Cincinnati to pursue her dream of becoming an Emergency Service Physician.
DeAndre Clayton is also a senior and has been attending HSA since the 6th grade. He is very social and loves to hang out with his friends. He loves to do photography and play video games; his favorite game is 2K. He is considering going into Marketing at Toledo University and one day plans to own his own business.
The Student Council and Mrs. Darmos would like to thank everyone who assisted with this year’s Homecoming. These events wouldn’t be possible without your support. Special Thanks to parents; Samantha Rivera and Christina Prihoda as well as Allies Mums (14804 Gore Orphanage Rd; Wakeman, Ohio 44889) who donated all the mums, pumpkins and cornstalks for the event!
