Some of our seventh grade students participated in their first formal debate facing off on the topic of school sponsored vending machines for student use. For the past two week students have conducted research on this topic in preparation for the debate. They created claims and worked to focus the large amount of information they found into a logical argument either for or against the use of vending machines in our schools. They then participated in a debate taking on a formal style of speech, dress, and decorum. We are very proud of our student’s hard work and are excited to see how they improve as they continue to practice public speaking skills.
